According to ScreenRant, Prime Video revealed the first trailer for its new series Cross, based on James Patterson’s (Along Came A Spider, The Murder Inn) Alex Cross novel series. The series starts with Aldis Hodge (Black Adam, The Invisible Man) in the titular role. Despite the lack of a debut date, The series has already been renewed for a season two, indicative of Prime Video’s confidence in the series.
In late 2022, Prime announced that Hodge would be playing the lead character.
Cross follows the exploits of Alex Cross, Metro PD’s hotshot detective and forensic psychologist. Cross dissects the mindsets of killers and their victims. He’s also a loving father. The series of novels the series is based on are wildly successful, with nearly all ending up on bestseller lists. The series’s 32nd novel, Alex Cross Must Die, was published in 2023. The series has previously been adapted into three films: Kiss The Girls in 1997, Along Came A Spider in 2001, and Alex Cross in 2012.
The just over one-minute teaser trailer showcases the titular character comforting his daughter, investigating a crime scene, and interrogating a confession out of a suspect.
Hodge serves not only as lead but also as a producer for the series. The series also stars Ryan Eggold (New Amsterdam, The Blacklist), Isaiah Mustafa (Shadowhunter, Murder At Yellowstone City), Eloise Mumford (Lone Star, The River), Alona Tal (Supernatural, Burn Notice), Matthew Lillard (Five Nights At Freddy’s, Scream), Wes Chatham (The Expanse, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay), and Jeanine Mason (Rosewell, Grey’s Anatomy).
Ben Watkins (Burn Notice, Hand Of God) serves as showrunner and executive producer. Jim Dunn (The Dead Zone, Hand Of God), Sam Ernst (Haven, Carnival Row), Craig Siebels (The Gifted, Blood & Treasure), and James Patterson himself also work as executive producers. Skydance Television helped produce the series and also Produced Prime Video’s Reacher.
