Critical Role Announces New Roundtable Series ‘Four-Sided Dive’ In This Week’s ‘State of the Role’

In mid-swing of celebrating their seventh-year anniversary, the minds behind Critical Role announced a brand new show coming to their streaming content this spring. During this week’s State of the Role, creator Matthew Mercer (HunterxHunter) was joined by cast members Travis Willingham (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) and Marisha Ray (Batgirl: Spoiled) to give details on Four-Sided Dive.

According to Ray, the new series will be a roundtable discussion show with members from the Critical Role cast. Each week a host is elected to lead the conversation which will touch a gamut of topics pertaining to the imaginative series and its many parts. Guests will discuss the in and outs of the current campaign and their respective characters, play an assortment of games, and other fun shenanigans.

Willingham highlighted that viewers can partake in the fun by participating in a segment titled Tower of Inquiry. It will be a portion of the show where the guests for that day will address questions submitted by Critters, fans of the Dungeons & Dragons show. Viewers will be collected via the website critrole.com/tower.

Originally launching in 2015, Critical Role is a role-playing-game-based adventure series in which Mercer and a collective of voice actors record and stream themselves creating a Dungeons & Dragons-esque universe with unique characters and story arcs. The Critical Role family includes Sam Riegel (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), Ashley Johnson (Blindspot), Laura Bailey (Fruits Basket), Liam O’Brien (The Legend of Vox Machina), and Taliesin Jaffe (Mr. Mom). From what was just a simple podcast has now spawned regularly Twitch-streamed episodes and even an animated series at Amazon Prime Video.

Four-Sided Dive is just one of the celebratory events announced in honor of the anniversary. Critical Role previously announced a select theater run for a previous campaign for fans to enjoy. The team also announced a new two-part spinoff entitled, Exandria Unlimited: Kymal, set to air on Thursday, March 31, and Friday, April 1. According to their press release, returning cast member Robbie Daymond (Breadwinners) will reprise his role as Dorian Storm who returns from fleeing Marquet with his fugitive brother. Daymond will be joined by Mercer, Anjali Bhimani (Ms. Marvel), Aimee Carrero (Maid), and new cast member Erica Lindbeck (Helluva Boss). The title of Gamemaster will be held by Abria Iyengar (Storybenders Podcasts).

Four-Sided Dive will premiere on their Twitch and YouTube channels live on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 PM PT. The episodes will be available for VOD the next day. View the full State of the Role segment below.
