Sources have revealed that Paramount Plus is developing a Criminal Minds revival, according to Variety. Little is currently known of the project, as details are still being finalized such as which original characters will return. However, Criminal Minds showrunner and executive producer Erica Messer (The Biggest Little Farm) will work on the series.
Following a team of FBI profilers who work for the Behavioral Analysis Unit, Criminal Minds ran for 15 seasons and 324 episodes, concluding in February of 2020. It starred Mandy Patinkin (Homeland), Shemar Moore (SWAT), Joe Mantegna (Baby’s Day Out), Matthew Gray Gubler ((500) Days of Summer), Thomas Gibson (Dharma & Greg), Paget Brewster (Friends), and Lola Glaudini (Invincible). The show eventually spawned two spinoffs – Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, with the latter being created by Messer. The streamer has been said to be developing several other series of late, including a revival of the MTV reality show The Real World, entitled The Real World Homecoming: New York, a docuseries entitled The Real Criminal Minds, as well as a prequel series to the Paramount drama Yellowstone.
While the original series was aired on CBS, the Criminal Minds revival is in the works at Paramount Plus as CBS is plotting expansions of the FBI and NCIS franchises with potential series NCIS: Hawaii and FBI: International.
