Creator Of ‘God Of War’ Game Series Does Not Mince Words About First-Look Image Of Television Adaptation

Deadline has reported that David Jaffe (Twisted Metal,God Of War) did not mince words when discussing the first look images for the God Of War television series. The original creator of the universe was less than pleased. In a video posted to YouTube, Jaffe called the still “so dumb” and a “terrible image”. Under a slight laugh, Jaffe would go on to state, “I’m sure everybody’s trying real hard.”

According to Deadline, Jaffe, who created the series Twisted Metal, would go on to dispel any concerns about the series as a whole, stating, “I’m not worried about the show,” although perhaps he was concerned about how the show was promoted, he continued,  “but I’m a little worried about: What the f**k is this?”

He continued by speaking to how the show was being positioned to audiences and Kratos’s played by Ryan Hurst (Remember The Titans, Sons Of Anarchy) position in the image. “Maybe they’re like, ‘Well, what we really want to focus on is the father-son story, and if we focus on him being like, rah, Spartan-rage and all that, maybe people are like, I don’t want to watch that show. OK, maybe, but then, at that point, could you find a picture that doesn’t look like he’s shitting in the woods?” via Deadline.

His other main gripe appeared to be about Artreus’s, Kratos’s son, played by Callum Vinson (Long Bright River, The Night Agent), overly quiffed hair. “It’s just weird — the way the whole image looks, he looks like he’s kind of a very confused little boy with way too much product in his hair. None of these characters look very interesting or appealing — they look just dumb. Like if this was God of War: Dumb and Dumber edition,” via Deadline.

According to Deadline, the God Of War television series is based on a PlayStation game of the same name. The series will center on a game based on Norse Mythology. The series, produced by Amazon MGM and Sony Pictures Television, has already received a second-season order.

The series description is as follows: “ It follows a father and son as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human, “ via Deadline.
