The creator of Chucky, Don Mancini (Child’s Play), has shared his hopes to extend the USA Network and Syfy horror series into fourth season despite being uncertain of its future and he’s got some new ideas. According to Deadline, Chucky is wrapping up its third season, and neither network has yet verified a season four.
As per Deadline, Mancini sat down for an interview with The Direct and said, “There’s very little I can say about that. I can’t tell you my idea for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it. I already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I really like to do.”
Deadline notes that Mancini also hinted that if there were to be a fourth season, he would want to take Chucky’s storyline in a different direction.
Mancini said, “I think it’s really fun, new, and again, another left turn in terms of what we’ve been doing so far. We don’t know the status of the show yet. So again, fingers crossed that we will get picked up, right?”
Deadline also notes that Devon Sawa (Final Destination), who portrays U.S. President Collins in Chucky, also shared his thoughts on the series’ continuation. Sawa stated, “Yeah, I’m optimistic. I’m optimistic. I’ve heard a little bit of the season unless it’s changed. But again, it’s Don [Mancini] raising the bar.”
Chucky the series is a sequel to the 2017 film Cult of Chucky. It chronicles Jake Wheeler, as portrayed by Zackary Arthur (Transparent), a 14-year-old who stumbles upon and purchases a Good Guy doll at a yard sale that possesses the spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray.
As previously reported, season three of Chucky was split into two parts after production halted during the SAG-AFTRA strike last summer. The last four episodes of season three began airing on April 10, with episodes airing every week until its season finale on May 1, 2024 entitled “Final Destination.”
