The USA Network has decided to end the five year run of their spy drama Covert Affairs starring Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham.
The Decision for USA Network to end this original series which features Perabo as skilled operative Annie Walker, came down to ratings.
The show produced by USA affiliate Universal Cable Productions, which regularly saw 5 million viewers per week at the beginning of the series, hit a low of 1.1 million in the fifth season. The final episode, which ran in December 2014 brought in 1.6 million views. The series, created by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, ended with a cliffhanger. Perabo’s character contemplating a shift in the CIA and a marriage proposal, and Gorham’s planning to leave the CIA altogether.
According to USA Today, the cable network has renewed a number of series, including Royal Pains, Suits, Graceland, Satisfaction, Playing House and Chrisley Knows Best.
