According to The Hollywood Reporter, Connor Storie had his first-ever opportunity to host Saturday Night Live. The Heated Rivalry star apparently took the opportunity to bring out his on-screen paramour on the sketch comedy show. mxdwn has reported that both actors have experienced major career breaks after the sports romance show. Aside from hosting SNL, Storie was recently spotted with Luca Guadagnino, sparking speculation about a possible collaboration between the actor and the renowned director. Williams will return to working with Canadian streamer Crave.
Storrie began the night with his monologue, “Now, some of you may have seen all of me on my show, Heated Rivalry. It’s a show that’s taught a lot of people about hockey, and it’s taught a lot of straight women that their sexuality is actually gay men,” via The Hollywood Reporter. View the full monologue below.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Storie then proceeded to his first cameos of the night, Jack and Quinn Hughes of the US Men’s National Hockey Team, and Hilary Knight and Megan Keller of the US Women’s National Hockey Team. All of whom are now Olympic Gold Medalists after their 2026 Milan Cortina games.
The men claimed they had never seen the show, but the women quickly rejected this statement, assuring Storie and the audience that they had. The women then stated, “It was going to be just us, but we thought we’d invite the guys too, we thought we’d give them a little moment to shine.” Subtly pointing to the fact that the women’s hockey team had been much more successful recently than the mens who hadn’t won since the 1980 “Miracle On Ice” men’s hockey team via The Hollywood Reporter.
Hudson Williams was the second cameo of the night. Much of the internet was not surprised as Storie’s on-screen romance was almost destined to end up in at least one sketch. The scene was based around at rejected proposal at the 30 Rock, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Storie and Williams had grown incredibly close over their experience shooting the show. Williams had previously stated. “I have one of my best friends for life right beside me through it all, which is already a luxury that a lot of actors don’t get, I’m sure I would’ve probably had a smaller appetite for the amount of stuff we’re doing if I didn’t have him through this,” via The Hollywood Reporter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Heated Rivalry charts the near decade long romance between two rival hockey players. The series has been praised by critics and audiences alike for both its messaging and content. The show was created by Jacob Tierney based on source material from author Rachel Reid.
