Comic-Con ’23: AMC Renews ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ And ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’

Due to the popularity of the original The Walking Dead series, various spin-off series have been created since, including The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The Walking Dead: Dead City is currently on its first season with its last episode airing July 23rd, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is set to premiere on September 10th. According to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC announced the renewal of both spin-off series during the San Diego Comic Con.

As The Hollywood Reporter notes, The President of AMC Dan McDermott stated, “This next chapter in the Walking Dead Universe continues to thrive with a terrific inaugural season for Dead City and highly anticipated new journey for fan-favorite character Daryl Dixon coming in September.”

He continued, “We can’t wait to bring Dead City fans back to the epicenter of Manhattan for more zip-lining action with Maggie and Negan. And, ahead of its debut, we’re thrilled to double down on Daryl as we bring the apocalypse to France, transforming Notre Dame, Pont du Gard and other iconic locales into an apocalyptic landscape unlike anything we’ve seen before.”

The renewal announcement came on the same day that the trailer for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon was released. The spin-off series stars Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, Blade II) as Daryl Dixon. The first season is set to focus on his journey in Europe as he continues trying to survive the apocalypse.

The Walking Dead: Dead City focuses on the characters Maggie Greene, played by Lauren Cohan (The Boy, Mile 22), and Negan Smith, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Supernatural, The Unholy). The first season debuted on June 18th and is set in Manhattan, New York.

With AMC’s announcement of renewal for both spin-off series, fans can look forward to further immersing themselves into The Walking Dead franchise.
