According to Deadline, the second installment of the Gremlins animated series has added Simu Liu (Barbie, Kim’s Convenience) to their lineup. Liu is joining Gremlins: The Wild Batch, formally known as Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai on Max.
As per Deadline, Liu will be taking on the role of Chang, a handsome, charming bootlegger who also happens to be the son of one of San Francisco Chinatown’s most powerful and influential families. Due to his way of life, many of his adventures have led him to spend some time in Alcatraz to the point that his own family believes he is dead. However, a twist of fate introduces him to Sam, Elle and Gizmo, and Chang now acts as their guide to America as he attempts to get back to Chinatown.
Liu will be joined in the second season by John Glover (Scrooged), the star of the Gremlins film sequel, who will guest star in the series. Although it is not known who Glover will be playing in the series, executive producers Tze Chun (Children of Invention, Windowbreaker) and Brendan Hay (Robot Chicken, Harvey Girls Forever!) hinted during the San Diego Comic-Con that the character might be related to the Clamp family ancestry.
