A highly anticipated new adult animated limited series titled Carol & The End Of The World is set to make its debut on Netflix on December 15th. The ten-episode series is brought to life by writer Dan Guterman (Rick and Morty, Community). Via Deadline, the show, in Guterman’s words, is, “… a love letter to routine. A show about the comforts of monotony. An animated and existential comedy about the daily rituals that make up the gaps that make up life.”
The logline, according to Deadline, reads, “With a mysterious planet hurtling towards Earth, extinction is imminent for the people of the world. While most people feel liberated to pursue their wildest dreams, one quiet and always uncomfortable woman stands alone – lost among the hedonistic masses.” Each of the ten episodes will have a thirty minute runtime. The series stars Martha Kelly (Euphoria, Baskets), along with other voice actors including Kimberly Hébert Gregory (Vice Principals, Craig of the Greek), Mel Rodriguez (Onward, Last Man On Earth), Beth Grant (The Mindy Project, No Country For Old Men), Delbert Hunt (Monster High, Justice League: Cosmic Chaos), Lawrence Pressman (Modern Family, MagnumPI), Bridget Everett (Somebody Somewhere, Patti Cake$), and Michael Chernus (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Severance).
According to Deadline, Carol & The End Of The World is produced by Guterman and Donick Cary (Parks and Recreation), with Kevin Arrieta (The Last O.G) as co-executive producer. The animation is produced by Bardel Entertainment Inc. which has produced other well-known works, such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, Space Jam, The Prince of Egypt, and more.
The addition of Carol & The End Of The World comes weeks after Netflix’s price increases for basic and premium plans across the United States.
