Colin Jost to Succeed Seth Meyers as ‘Weekend Update’ Co-Anchor on ‘SNL’

Saturday Night Live’s NBC Sketch Show’s head writer Colin Jost will succeed Seth Meyers as Weekend Update Co-Anchor on Saturday Night Live.

According to Deadline, Jost, who was chosen by Lorne Michaels, will join Cecily Strong as co-anchor on March 1. Myers will be leaving SNL on Feb. 1 to host Late Night, starting Feb. 24.

Jost joined SNL in 2005 as a twenty-two-year-old Harvard graduate. He was named head writer in 2012 and is the third consecutive SNL head writer to take on the Weekend Update co-anchor role, following Tina Fey and Meyers.

Some of the recent viral sketches that Jost has written on the show include the We Did Stop music video featuring Miley Cyrus and the 50 Shades of Grey screen test.

Jost has also written for recurring characters on Weekend Update, including Drunk Uncle, The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party and Second-hand news correspondent Anthony Crispino.

Since Jost joined SNL, he has won three WGA Awards, a Peabody Award and has been nominated for eight Emmys for his work on the series.
