Maria Hill, Nick Fury’s right-hand woman, is still an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
According to reports from San Diego Comic-Con, Cobie Smulders will reprise her role from last year’s “Avengers” film in the upcoming ABC series.
She will have a major role in the pilot and could potentially recur in other episodes throughout the season; however, Smulders cannot make a full-time commitment to the new drama series yet. She is still a series regular on How I Met Your Mother for the CBS comedy’s final season, set to air this fall.
“I wanted very much to have Cobie in the pilot because as much as anyone else, she IS S.H.I.E.L.D. She is cool and commanding and has the dry humor that plays so well with Clark’s [Gregg, who plays Agent Coulson],” executive producer Joss Whedon told Entertainment Weekly.
The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot screened Friday at a panel featuring the series’ cast, writers and producers. Its positive reception has increased anticipation for the series even further, though S.H.I.E.L.D. does not debut until Tuesday, September 24 on ABC.
