Co-Creator of Hulu’s ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Comments on the Show’s Potential Move to Los Angeles

Season three of Only Murders in the Building aired its season finale on October 3. With the first episode of the season being released at the beginning of August, the ten-episode long season might have dropped a huge hint about where the series could be heading in season four. Via Screenrant, “… co-creator and executive producer John Hoffman discusses whether the show will move to Los Angeles after that season 3 finale tease. In the last episode, Tobert (Jesse Williams) and Loretta (Meryl Streep) reveal that they’re moving to L.A., as they’ve received job opportunities.”

Hoffman spoke with TVLine and addressed the direction of the show, which has been renewed for fourth season. He revealed that the show is “a New York show” and if the story calls for it, the show can go anywhere. Hoffman’s response didn’t reveal too much, possibly because he did not want to reveal a huge detail to come, or those details are yet to be flushed out. According to Screenrant, Only Murders in the Building has a perfect reason to jump ship from New York. “The recurring character Sazz (Jane Lynch) is killed by a sniper. But given that Sazz is the stunt double for Charles (Steve Martin), the question seems to be whether Charles was the intended target of the sniper shot.” This may be a substantial enough reason for Charles to join friends Mabel, played by Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place), and Oliver played by Steve Martin (Cheaper by the Dozen), in Los Angeles, who will be going to visit their respective romantic partners.

The season three finale was the most viewed finale of 2023 on Hulu, based on views following its first day of streaming. Via Screenrant, “Only Murders in the Building season 4 is solid hit for Hulu, one of the streamer’s relatively few shows to have a strong presence on the Nielsen streaming charts.”

A release date or setting for the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building is yet to be announced, but the first three seasons are available to stream on Hulu now.
