The hit Syfy horror series, Chucky, will return for more horror and scares. The Child’s Play reboot series has been renewed for a second season at Syfy, via Deadline.
Based on the classic horror character of the 80s, Chucky follows a red-headed doll possessed by a notorious serial killer. The doll ends up in an all-American suburban town where a series of murders exposes the town’s secrets and hypocrisies. On top of that, Chucky is met with the arrival of figures from his past that threaten to reveal the truth behind his notorious killings and the origins of becoming a doll.
The first season’s finale is set to premiere on November 30. According to Deadline, NBCUniversal said that the series reach 9.5 million views across all platforms during season one. The series will arrive on Peacock starting December 1.
Brad Dourif (Curse of Chucky) returned to voice the iconic character. Fiona Dourif (Curse of Chucky), Alex Vicent (Child’s Play), Christine Elise McCarthy (Beverly Hills, 91210), and Jennifer Tilly (Bound) all returned from the film series. Joining them are Zachary Authur (The 5th Wave), Teo Briones (Wind), Alyvia Alyn Lind (Daybreak), newcomer Bjorgvin Arnarson, Lexa Doig (Jason X), and Devon Sawa (Final Destination).
“We’re thrilled to start pulling the strings on a second season of puppet mayhem with Chucky,” Mancini told Deadline. “Many thanks to our partners at USA, Syfy and UCP for their incredible support and guidance bringing Chucky to the small screen, bigger than ever. And to the fans, Chucky sends his still-undying thanks, and a message: ‘This isn’t over, not by a long shot. You better watch your backs in 2022′”.
The season finale of Chucky will premiere tomorrow night, November 30, on Syfy and USA. Season two is expected for 2022.
