Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future) has joined the cast of Disney+’s hit Star Wars spinoff series, The Mandalorian, for their third season in a guest starring role, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The details on Lloyd’s character are not yet known.
Lloyd is one of the most well-known actors in the science fiction genre. He is most known for his role as Dr. Emmett Brown in the Back To The Future trilogy from 1985-1990. He has also appeared in Star Trek III: The Search For Spock as Klingon Commander Kruge in 1984.
He has remained busy over the past year as well. In 2021, he appeared in Nobody, an action film starring Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul); Senior Moment, a rom-com starring William Shatner (Star Trek: The Motion Picture) and Jean Smart (Hacks); Queen Bees, another rom-com that starred Ellen Burstyn (Law & Order: SVU) and Jane Curtin (Coneheads); and The Tender Bar, a drama directed by George Clooney (The Monuments Men).
Lloyd has three Emmys in his resume. He won Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series in 1992 for his work in Avonlea. He has two awards for his work in Taxi, both for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Or Variety Or Music Series, in which he won in 1982 and 1983.
The Mandalorian is continuing their trend of bringing in popular actors from historic movie or TV show franchises in guest starring or recurring roles. Carl Weathers (Rocky) has made multiple appearances, as has Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) and Michael Biehn (The Terminator). Other memorable guest stars have included Bill Burr (F Is For Family), Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), Rosario Dawson (Eagle Eye), Sasha Banks (WWE Smackdown), Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Werner Herzog (Jack Reacher), John Leguizamo (The Pest), Amy Sedaris (BoJack Horseman), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), and Ming-Na Wen (Street Fighter).
