Chris Rock (Everybody Hates Chris, Grown Ups) and Martin Short (Innerspace, Schmigadoon!), both former hosts and guests on Saturday Night Live, will return to Studio 8H to host the final two episodes of 2024, according to Variety. Rock is set to host on Dec. 14, marking his fourth time in the role, with musical guest Gracie Abrams (“That’s So True,” “I Love You, I’m Sorry”) making her SNL debut. Short will follow on Dec. 21, hosting for the third time, accompanied by Hozier (“Too Sweet,” “Take Me to Church”), who will appear as the musical guest for the second time.
A Grammy-nominated artist, Abrams is on tour promoting her latest album, The Secret of Us. Meanwhile, Hozier is gearing up for the Dec. 6 release of Unreal Unearth: Unending, a deluxe version of his album Unreal Unearth.
Season 50 of SNL kicked off with Jean Smart (Hacks) as host and Jelly Roll (“I Am Not Okay”) as the musical guest, featuring a variety of noteworthy pairings. These included Nate Bargatze with Coldplay on Oct. 5, Ariana Grande (Wicked, Victorious) with Stevie Nicks (“Edge of Seventeen,” “Dreams”) on Oct. 12, Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice, Batman) with Billie Eilish (“BIRDS OF A FEATHER,” “What Was I Made For?”) on Oct. 19 and John Mulaney (Mulaney, Documentary Now!) with Chappell Roan (“Pink Pony Club,” “Good Luck, Babe!”) on Nov. 2. Other highlights from this season include Bill Burr (F Is for Family, Breaking Bad) and Mk.gee (“ROCKMAN,” “Are You Looking Up”) on Nov. 9 and most recently Charli XCX (“360,” “Apple”) as both host and musical guest on Nov. 16.

Prior to the final two episodes, SNL will air its Dec. 7 show, hosted by Paul Mescal (Normal People, Gladiator II) with Shaboozey (“A Bar Song [Tipsy])” as the musical guest, marking the show’s return after a three-week break for Thanksgiving. Rock, who was part of the SNL cast from 1990 to 1993, is currently the executive producer and narrator of Everybody Still Hates Chris, an animated reboot of his autobiographical sitcom of the same name. He was most recently seen on the big screen in last year’s Rustin. Short, who appeared on SNL from 1984 to 1985, stars alongside Steve Martin (Father of the Bride) and Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place, Emilia Pérez) in Hulu’s hit comedy Only Murders in the Building.
The show’s 50th anniversary will culminate in a live primetime special on Feb. 16.
Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC and streams on Peacock. It is produced in partnership with Broadway Video, with Lorne Michaels (30 Rock, The Kids in the Hall) serving as creator and executive producer.
