Chris Hardwick’s ‘@midnight’ Renewed for Fourth Season by Comedy Central

Chris Hardwick’s pop culture game show, @midnight, has been renewed for a fourth season by Comedy Central.

“We are really pleased with how Chris and team have opened the aperture of @midnight to cover more of the socially and politically relevant topics of the day, and I defy anyone to find a show with a higher joke-per-minute ratio,” Kent Alterman, Comedy Central president, announced on Friday.

@midnight has won two consecutive Emmys for outstanding creative achievement in interactive media/social TV experience. The show reaches the youngest and most-male audience (64 percent) out of any late-night show, and ranks third among men 18-24 and fifth among men 18-34 amongst late-night programs.

Hardwick is executive producer of the series along with Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, Mike Farah and Joe Farrell of Funny or Die, Alex Blagg, Jason Nadler and Jon Zimelis of the Emmy-winning production company Serious Business. Jack Martin is showrunner. Brillstein’s Alex Murray also exec produces with Comedy Central’s Gary Mann and Tara Schuster.

“I love making @midnight and we will continue to innovate inappropriate jokes about social media and pop culture in the late-night landscape,” Hardwick said. “I’m proud to get to work with this amazing team for another year, and hopefully beyond!”

After the cancellation of Larry Wilmore’s The Nightly Show, @midnight moved into its 11:30 p.m. slotthat is, until Comedy Central finds a talk-show to pair with The Daily Show With Trevor Noah.

Hardwick’s other projects include The Walking Dead and hosting its after-show Talking Dead. He signed an overall deal with AMC in July. He is founder and CEO of Nerdist Industries, a podcast production company and is next expected to host NBC’s upcoming game show The Wall, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
