The fourth and final season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina hit Netflix on December 31, just in time for a New Year’s binge, according to TV Line. In its two-year run on the streaming platform, the teen horror drama has been at the heart of many a critical discussion about genre television and garnered a passionate online fanbase, including a dedicated subreddit that boasts over 25,000 individual members. News of the show’s cancellation broke in the first week of July 2020.
The show’s creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, Katy Keene) went on his Instagram to express his appreciation for everyone in the cast and crew, especially Rob Seidenglanz (Blindspot, The Following), who directed one-fourth of the show’s thirty-six episodes.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was part of Aguirre-Sacasa’s ArchieVerse, which includes The CW’s Riverdale and its canceled Big Apple-set spin-off Katy Keene. The minute the first season dropped on Netflix, fans were clamoring for a crossover event. While nothing of the sort happens in season four, Aguirre-Sacasa claimed in July 2020 that his plan for season five was to adapt his “Witch War” storyline from the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comics and have Riverdale characters finally cross paths with Sabrina and her friends in Greendale, according to ScreenRant. Riverdale Easter eggs and cameos can be found frequently in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and vice versa.
Series lead Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men, Let It Snow) believes that Sabrina still has the opportunity to appear in the world of Riverdale, as reported by Entertainment Tonight. “I think we can still go to Riverdale. I think I’m holding out hope that she pops up and is like, ‘Oh man! I landed in the wrong county,’ but ends up getting trapped there for a little bit… I think that would be funny,” she proclaimed.
When queried by Entertainment Tonight about the ultimate sacrifice Sabrina makes at the end of the final season and how her boyfriend Nick Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood, My Dead Ex) reacts, Shipka proffered a theory of her own. “The character does not belong to me solely… It belongs to the viewers, and if people want to watch the finale and think that she ends up in the sweet hereafter with Nick, then amazing… I will say I think she’s pretty savvy and could find her way back to Greendale if she chose to. And I think just because I love her so much, that’s what I want to think happens,” she explained. “Anything is possible in the world of Sabrina,” Shipka declared, via Entertainment Tonight.
All four seasons of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are available to stream via Netflix. The first eight issues of Aguirre-Sacasa’s comic book series of the same name have been compiled in book form and can be purchased through most major book retailers.
