Gina really does know best! The Brooklyn 99 comedian and writer, Chelsea Peretti has been announced per Variety, as the host of the 2019 Writers Guild Awards, which will air Feb. 17th.
The ceremony will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. The WGA will also hold a sister awards ceremony that day at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. Kelly Brock will be producing the ceremony, while Joe O’Brien (The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson) has been confirmed as head writer. O’Brien has experience co-producing the Critics’ Choice Awards as well.
Peretti jokingly mentioned that she “was excited for people to judge the writing” of her jokes. But audiences ought to not worry, because Peretti has experience writing for publications such as The Village Voice, Playgirl, American Theatre Magazine, and The Huffington Post, which her brother Jonah Peretti co-founded.
She even wrote for the beloved television series Parks and Recreation for which she earned two Writers Guild Award nominations for comedy series in 2012 and 2013. She has also written for the likes of the Kroll Show, Saturday Night Live, Portlandia, The Sarah Silverman Program.
“Chelsea Peretti is hosting the Writers Guild Awards, and she will do a FANTASTIC job. Not a WITCH HUNT,” executive producer Hugh Fink said, “I picked Chelsea because she’s a great comedian and writer. There was NO COLLUSION.”
The comedian has also made guest appearances on shows like HBO’s Girls, Comedy Central’s Drunk History and Key and Peele, FOX’s New Girl, and FX’s Louie , aside from her occasional feature film roles (Game Night and Friendsgiving)
