According to The Hollywood Reporter, the current, ratings-smashing, and controversial two-season block of South Park is wrapping up. Fans can expect Eric Cartman to cause chaos in the titular town during Wednesday’s penultimate installment of the shorter 28th season.
Titled “Turkey Trot,” episode four premiered on November 26th and will show the Colorado mountain town’s annual Thanksgiving run “turns chaotic when Cartman uses questionable cutting-edge science to win the race,” via The Hollywood Reporter.
The Hollywood Reporter claims the official press release omits details on the continuing two-season storyline involving U.S. politics, President Trump, Satan, their pregnancy, and the White House chaos. Despite this, the episode is expected to culminate in a major conclusion set in Washington. Previously, the narrative established Trump’s clandestine affair with Vice President J.D. Vance, coinciding with Satan approaching the birth of the Antichrist.
After being briefly taken to Washington by tech investor Peter Thiel — whose belief was that he held the key to fighting the soon-to-be-born Antichrist — Cartman has returned home. Predictably, he seems ready to immediately remind the small town that he is its reigning troublemaker, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
A new installment of South Park season 28 is set to premiere on Wednesday, December 10th, according to Comedy Central. The episode is likely the season finale, as Season 27 was abbreviated to five episodes, but the show’s erratic scheduling this year means this isn’t guaranteed, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
The Hollywood Reporter also said last night’s episode was broadcast live on Comedy Central. Afterward, new episodes will be accessible for streaming on Paramount+ and On Demand through cable providers.
Created by Trey Parker (Despicable Me 3, BASEketball) and Matt Stone (BASEketball, Team America: World Police), the highly successful animated franchise debuted on Comedy Central in August 1997. South Park has a long history of holiday episodes, with its main characters–Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny–first appearing in the short, “The Spirit of Christmas,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
