‘Chad Powers’ By Glen Powell Renewed For Season Two On Hulu

According to Variety, Chad Powers, the football-based comedy series will be renewed for another season on Hulu. The show stars Glen Powell (Hidden Figures, Top Gun: Maverick).

Variety says the series started streaming on September 30th and Glen Powell plays Russ Holiday. He’s a cocky quarterback who throws away his college career after making a a detrimental mistake at an important game. Holiday comes back almost 10 years later, but under the alias of “Chad Powers” to get another chance. He walks on to the South Georgia team, who isn’t having the best luck with games.

Other actors on the show include Perry Mattfeld (In the Dark, Mending the Line), Quentin Plair (Tiny Beautiful Things, Not Without Hope), Wynn Everett (The Maiden Heist, Palmer), Frankie Rodriguez (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Hopelessly in Love), and Steve Zahn (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Joy Ride) according to Variety.

According to Variety, Powell also co-created the show alongside Michael Waldron (Loki, Heels), based on a sketch that appeared on Eli’s Places on ESPN. In said sketch, Peyton Manning went to the tryouts for Penn State in a disguise. He wore a mask resembling a different face in addition to a wig and a mustache and went under the name of Chad Powers.

Variety says Eli Manning is an executive producer for the series alongside Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, and Ben Brown from Omaha Productions. Burke Mangus, Brian Lockhart, and Kati Fernandez from ESPN also work on the show. Powell also produces along with Waldron and Adam Fasullo. Powell produces for Barnstorm Productions, and Fasullo produces for Anomoly Pictures.

Back in November is when word about season two started getting around. A report from the Atlanta Journal Constitution said the crew in Atlanta was expecting production to pick up in January according to Variety.

Chad Powers is available for streaming on Disney Plus.
