On Monday, Netflix announced an upcoming holiday campaign called “The 6 Days of Witchmas”, in which fans can expect nearly a week’s worth of new content from the world of The Witcher on social media, via IGN. According to Comic Book Resources, a teaser for a holiday themed event was released back in November, but today’s news confirmed the details of the campaign.
I have acquired these gifts by searching far and wide for the “content” that you so often request from me.

A thread from the official The Witcher Twitter page informed fans how “The 6 Days of Witchmas” event, slated for December 16 through 21, would run and how they could get involved. For each day of the event, fans will be able to vote in a poll where they can choose to accept a gift from The Witcher team or “invoke the Law of Surprise”, via Twitter. According to IGN, the winning vote will be revealed the following day along with “the gift” and another chance to vote on the fate of the next gift.

Alongside this Twitter thread, The Witcher’s official Instagram reposted a video of season one footage from the show edited together to tell a story about protagonist Geralt of Rivia being a seasonal curmudgeon. This video, which first introduced the concept of “Witchmas”, was initially released in November. However, now that the details of the event have been revealed, fans of The Witcher have more context and reason to be excited about “Witchmas”.

In October, the social media accounts for The Witcher revealed the season two looks for Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer, shortly after the show returned to filming after a COVID-induced hiatus in the spring. “Fans of The Witcher will probably be hoping to see some more season two surprises during the upcoming Witchmas celebration” IGN said in reference to the fall social media campaign that revealed the season two costumes to fans.
While more season two content can be expected from “The 6 Days of Witchmas”, Comic Book Resources also notes that The Witcher universe at Netflix is expanding. It’s possible that one of the six days may hold news about prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin, the anime film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf or the untitled spin-off series that’s expected to delve deeper into the show’s magic users.
After recent reports that The Witcher star Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, The Witcher) may have sustained injuries on the set of the fantasy series, fans could use some good news from “The 6 Days of Witchmas”. Everyday from December 16 to December 21, The Witcher audience will receive gifts in the form of specially curated content from the show. A trailer from the series, who’s season two release is expected in 2021, would certainly be the “Witchmas” present at the top of any fan’s wish list.
