CBS has announced the new cast for its reboot of the classic series The Twilight Zone which includes the likes of Topher Grace (That’s 70s Show), Sky Ferreira (Baby Driver), Gretchen Mol (Manchester by the Sea), and Jurnee Smollett-Bell (True Blood), according to Deadline. The CBS All Access series debuted in 2019 and is based on the original television series from Rod Serling (It’s Mental Work) that ran from 1959 to 1964. Currently developed and overseen by Jordan Peele (Us and Get Out), Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes), and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy), the series ran its first season composed of ten episodes and its second season expected to hit the small screen sometime in 2020.
The Twilight Zone is an anthology series that incorporates science-fiction and paranormal elements as each episode follows a new character in the midst of strange events. The second season will consist of another ten episodes and this announcement has introduced the new names to be featured in the reboot of a cult classic program. In addition to Grace, Ferreira, Mol, and Smollett-Bell, the series also announced the inclusion of actors such as Joel McHale (Community), Brandon Jay McLaren (Graceland), David Krumholtz (The Deuce), Damon Wayans Jr. (Happy Endings), Paula Newsome (Barry), Natalie Martinez (Reminiscence), Kylie Bunbury (When They See Us), Greta Lee (Russian Doll), Tawny Newsome (Space Force), Paul F. Tompkins (BoJack Horseman), and Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!).
Prior to this announcement, the second season of The Twilight Zone has also announced Tony Hale (Veep and Arrested Development), Ethan Embry (Blindspotting), Gillian Jacobs (Community), Jimmi Simpsons (Westworld), Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me), and many more.
