According to a Deadline article the premiere week of Beyond The Gates which is CBS’s latest daytime drama has delivered excellent numbers. Deadline says the show marks the first new soap opera to launch since Passions in 1999 which attracted 2.28 million viewers in live+3 ratings. This show represents a 78% increase over The Talk from the previous year says Deadline. The article also says that CBS also reported that live+3 streaming provided a 13.6% boost to the show’s audience which surpasses the increase seen for The Young and the Restless (10.9%) and The Bold and the Beautiful (12.6%) according to Deadline.
Deadline also says that live+7 ratings for the debut episode reached 3.0 million viewers, slightly outperforming Passions, which premiered to 2.96 million viewers on July 5, 1999. Additional data from Nielsen indicates that during its first week, Beyond The Gates averaged 5.2 million unique viewers who tuned in for at least six minutes. The new series was nearly tied with General Hospital in total viewers, with GH bringing in 2.02 million, and even outperformed the long-running ABC soap in key demographic categories which is ages 25-54 per Deadline.
One notable statistic is the show’s diverse audience. Deadline mentions that according to CBS, 55% of Beyond The Gates viewers are Black, a significantly higher percentage than The Young and the Restless (29%), The Bold and the Beautiful (30%), and General Hospital (22%). The article continues by saying the premiere scored a 9 share, surpassing Passions, which had a 7 share when it debuted.

Russell (Beyond the Gates), Derrick Johnson (Beyond the Gates), Kimberly Doebereiner (Empire Waist, A Radical Act: Renee Montgomery), and Anna Saalfeld (I Can’t Keep Quiet, Empire Waist).
