Private Practice star will play opposite Tea Leoni in the drama from Barbara Hall and Morgan Freeman.
The Private Practice alum will co-star opposite Tea Leoni in the CBS’s drama pilot, Madam Secretary, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter. The show centers on the personal and professional life of Elizabeth McGill (Leoni), who works as a female Secretary of State and also has a complex family life.
Daly will play Henry, McGill’s husband, a professor and a father of two children. He is described as an expert on medieval religious history who can talk about St. Thomas Aquinas for hours without repeating himself.
Hall is writing and executive producing the show produced by CBS Television Studios/Revelations Entertainment alongside Morgan Freeman, while Lori McCreary and Tracy Mercer are also exec. producing.
Daly also appear in Fox’s The Mindy Project as a love interest for Mindy Kaling and on Hot in Cleveland (TV Land). The actor is best known for Wings and for playing Pete in Private Practice (ABC) for five seasons. Tim Daly is currently working on three indie films: After Darkness, Submerged and Hell of a View.
