CBS’s ‘Beyond The Gates’ Adds Daphnee Duplaix, Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie To The Cast

According to Deadline, Daphnee Duplaix (One Life to Live, Lost & Found), Karla Mosley (How To Train Your Husband, From the Heart) and Tamara Tunie (Law & Order: Special Victims, See You in September) are joining the cast of Beyond The Gates as the fictional Dupree family members.

The original title of the show was The Gates but was recently changed.

Tunie will take on the role of former singer and head of the household Anita Dupree. She has provided for her two children alongside her husband and is hardworking, which helped her reach her success. However, beneath her tough external appearance is a ferociousness she developed in Chicago.

Duplaix will play Anita’s high-achieving daughter, Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson. Nicole is a competitive psychiatrist and philanthropist who is married to a surgeon. Although with these qualities, she emits compassion, empathy and warmth. From the outside, her life appears picture perfect but it runs deeper than that.

Karla Mosley will act as Dani Dupree, Anita’s former model daughter who chose love over a career. Dani was headstrong, impetuous and free-spirited, which is why she was labeled as the family’s wild child. In order to go after an opportunistic modeling career, she drops out of school and starts to follow her dream right away.

Beyond The Gates is the first one-hour Black daytime drama to air on TV and the first to premiere since the 1999’s show Passions. The series will take place in a Maryland Suburb outside of Washington, D.C. Filming will start subsequently this fall in Atlanta and debut in early 2025 on CBS.

The soap will be released from NAACP Venture and CBS Studios who are also partnered with P&G Studios.

The show runner, creator and executive producer is Michele Van Jean (General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful). Along with Jean to executively produce is Anna Saalfeld (Empire Waist, Serving in Secret, Country, and Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell), Derrick Johnson (55th NAACP Image Awards), Julie Carruthers (General Hospital, Santa Barbara), Leon Russell (Ghost Rider, The Kids Are All Right) , Kimberly Doebereiner (The Turning Point, The Tender Mender), Sheila Ducksworth (Ambitions, The Baxters) and Robert Guza Jr (General Hospital, Melanie).
