CBS’ Upcoming Workplace Comedy Pilot ‘DMV’ Fleshes Out Its Cast

Per Deadline, CBS’ upcoming single-camera comedy pilot, DMV, has added three new cast members: Alex Tarrant (NCIS: Hawai’i, Mean Mums), Tony Cavalero (The Righteous Gemstones, Big City Greens) and Gigi Zumbado (Doctor Odyssey, High Town). Each will be a series regular alongside previously announced cast members Tim Meadows (Grimsburg, Life & Beth), Harriet Dyer (Colin from Accounts, American Auto) and Molly Kearney (A League of Their Own, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers).

DMV, written by Dana Klein (9JKL, Fresh Off the Boat) and based on author Katherine Heiny’s (Standard DeviationEarly Morning Riser) short story “Chicken-Flavored and Lemon Scented”, is a workplace comedy set at the place everyone dreads going to the most. The series will follow a handful of quirky and lovable characters as they do a thankless job making minimum wage, working in an environment where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door.

Tarrant will play Noa, a dreamy, charismatic golden boy who seems destined for much greater things than working at the DMV. A star surfer, he lives the “Pura Vida” life and doesn’t sweat the small stuff. Zumbado will play Ceci, a scrappy, tough, and sassy counter representative who has no time for anyone’s nonsense. She’s impatient and critical but thinks she can do everyone’s job better than they can.

Meanwhile, Cavalero will play Vic, who, before landing at the DMV, worked as a bouncer, security guard, head cook before landing at the DMV and has found his true calling as a driving examiner. While Colette, played by Dyer, takes the nervous drivers, Vic takes the entitled ones who deserve to be taken down a notch. A lovable scumbag and oddball, he has no edit and a wildly inflated sense of himself.

The project hails from CBS Studios and is executive produced by Klein, Aaron Kaplan (The Neighborhood, The Chi), Wendi Trilling (The Unicorn, Merry Happy Whatever) and Robyn Meisinger (Love in the Time of Corona, Hot Mess). Trent O’Donnell (Ghosts, In Limbo) will direct and executive produce the pilot.

Tarrant is represented by Gersh and Omni Artists; Cavalero is represented by Gersh, Nicole Garcia Management and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman; Zumbado is represented by Innovative Artists, Industry Entertainment and Del Shaw Moonves.
