CBS TV Studios Partner With Advisory Board To Consult Crime & Legal Dramas

CBS TV Studios announced the hiring of an advisory committee to consult on various crime and legal shows. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 21CP Solutions will join the company in monitoring the ways in which their shows depict law enforcement and other characters of the judicial system. This announcement comes amidst nationwide protests calling for police reform and racial justice.

21CP Solutions is a firm comprised of various professionals ranging from law enforcement to academia and civil rights organizations, via The Hollywood Reporter. Its work includes strategizing public safety initiatives and reforms in various cities and communities. It is led by Ronald Davis, a former Obama administration aide and Department of Justice official. Under Obama’s tutelage Davis led a task force on 21st Century policing. From 2013-2017, Davis served in the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.

“I applaud CBS Studios for recognizing the impact its police and legal series have on the relationship between police and the communities they serve and on public perceptions on law enforcement, crime and race,” Davis said via The Hollywood Reporter. CBS currently has 11 shows dedicated to crime and legal content, including popular hits such as NCIS, Blue Bloods, and S.W.A.T.

In addition to Davis, 21CP advisors will include Laurie Robinson, a George Mason University professor, and former assistant attorney general; Anette Sikka who previously served on the United Nations; and legal scholar Matthew Barge, via The Hollywood Reporter.

“Police and legal series have been a mainstay of the Studio’s roster and the Network’s schedule for decades,” CBS TV Studios president David Stapf said, via The Hollywood Reporter. “We have an opportunity to build on that successful foundation going forward, and having the insightful and highly respected advisors from 21CP Solutions at our disposal is a valuable resource to our creative process.”
