A Deadline article says CBS is developing a new single-camera comedy titled Blanks, created by comedian and bestselling author Aaron Karo (Aaron Karo: The Rest Is History, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson). The show follows a serial dater whose life is upended when he learns his biological clock is running out—right as he meets the woman of his dreams, who isn’t ready to settle down.
CBS Studios is currently developing the series, with Aaron Karo attached as writer and executive producer, teaming up with Wilmer Valderrama—known for That ’70s Show and NCIS—through his banner, WV Entertainment. According to Deadline, Blanks explores themes of timing, identity, and personal growth.
As reported by Deadline, Aaron Karo offers a distinctive comedic style grounded in personal narratives and emotional depth. He also recently sold the pilot Lexapros and Cons—an adaptation of his young adult novel—to AwesomenessTV, co-written with Lindsey Rosin.
Karo previously created the animated pilot Germany for Comedy Central, developed for Channing Tatum (Magic Mike, 21 Jump Street) and Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Black Panther). His other work includes co-authoring The Hidden Power of F*cking Up, a No. 1 New York Times bestseller.
Valderrama, who has portrayed Agent Nick Torres on NCIS and famously played Fez on That ’70s Show, founded WV Entertainment in 2006 to develop emotionally resonant, diverse storytelling. His company has produced content across formats, including Netflix’s Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult and Disney Channel’s Handy Manny, the first bilingual animated series.
According to Deadline, Wilmer Valderrama’s production lineup demonstrates a clear dedication to inclusive storytelling and impactful narratives. His company, WV Entertainment, is currently developing projects such as the comedy Mexican Beverly Hills and Patriots from the Barrio—a screen adaptation of Dave Gutierrez’s nonfiction account of a Mexican American Army unit in World War II.
