CBS is moving forward in their scheduling for the new year. According to Variety, a few new programs will be making their series premieres in 2017, including Katherine Heigl’s Doubt and another show entering uncharted territory.
The releasing of the schedule also means that Pure Genius, which was capped at 13 episodes last week, will air its final episode on Jan. 26.
To finish out 2016, Undercover Boss has its eighth season premiere on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. and runs for two hours. The following week, on Dec. 28, the show airs in its regular timeslot of 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday nights.
As a way to ring in the new year, CBS has a football doubleheader. Following the end of football for the day, CBS’ freshman drama Ransom will premiere at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1. The time the show beginnings will most likely be pushed back due to football overrun, which typically happens with the shows that air on Sunday on the network. On Saturday, Jan. 7, Ransom moves to its permanent timeslot of 8 p.m. This marks the first time in several years that CBS will air a new show on Saturday nights.
On Sunday, Jan. 22, following the American Football Conference Championship Game, CBS will air their new show Hunted at 10 p.m. The show will air an hour long episode that night. A two-hour episode will air on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Code Black will return that same day at 10 p.m. The following Wednesday, Feb. 1, Hunted has its time period premiere and will air from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Criminal Minds will air from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Code Black will round out the night and will air from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
On Thursday, Feb. 2, The Big Bang Theory will lead-off the night in its usual 8 p.m. timeslot, followed by The Great Indoors at 8:30 p.m., Mom at 9 p.m. and Life in Pieces at 9:30 p.m. Training Day will have its series premiere and will take over the timeslot that Pure Genius currently has, which is the 10 p.m. timeslot.
On Wednesday, Feb. 15, Hunted will air at 8 p.m., Criminal Minds will air at 9 p.m. and new series Doubt, which stars Katherine Heigl, Laverne Cox, Dule Hill and Elliot Gould, will have its series premiere at 10 p.m., taking over Code Black‘s timeslot when it ends its second season.
On Wednesday, Mar. 8, Survivor will have a two-hour premiere from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Doubt will air from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. The following week (Mar. 15), Survivor airs from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., Criminal Minds airs from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Doubt airs from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
On Friday, Apr. 21, The Amazing Race will have a two-hour premiere from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Blue Bloods will air from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. The following week (Apr. 28), The Amazing Race has its time period premiere from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., Hawaii Five-0, which is in the middle of a ratings renaissance, will air from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Blue Bloods will air from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Amazing Race will be taking over for MacGyver once it ends its first season run.
