According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Yellowstone spinoff Marshals, reveals an official new trailer for its premiere. The series is centered around Luke Grimes‘ (American Sniper, Happiness for Beginners) character Kayce Dutton. The new trailer confirms that tragedy awaits Kayce, the son of Kevin Costner’s (The Bodyguard, Waterworld) late John Dutton, on Yellowstone. Marshals will air on CBS and Paramount+ on Sunday, March first. Marshals is new addition to the Yellowstone universe, following other spinoffs like The Dutton Ranch and The Madison.
Below is the official trailer for Marshals.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, there has been much speculation about the state of Kayce’s wife, Monica Dutton, played by Kelsey Asbille (Don’t Move, Pair of Kings) in Yellowstone possibly being dead. The trailer showcases a sendoff to the character “Yellowstone is gone, same for most of my family,” Kayce says at one point in the trailer. “As for vengeance, the day is still young.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. Kayce and his teammates — Pete Calvin, Belle Skinner, Andrea Cruz and Miles Kittle – must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate and his confidantes Mo and Thomas Rainwater from the Broken Rock reservation.”
Grimes spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about being hesitant to bring back Kayce after the series’ perfect ending. “He has his dream life now, so now what does he do? I think we left him in a perfect place,” he said, “and then the new showrunner, Spencer , called and he had an idea that was very, very good. And that was it. I was like, ‘Ok, that makes sense. And that opens up a whole new world for him and we get to see him be a different Kayce than we’ve ever seen.’”
