According to The Root, Training day is coming to television. CBS is currently in development with the new series which is spun from the 2001 gritty, Los Angeles crime drama. Due to it being in development, precious few details are known thus far.
The original director from the movie, Antoine Faqua, is slated to direct and produce the upcoming series.
As per Variety, Will Beale, an ex LAPD detective, is set to pen the pilot, while Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman will be executive producers.
Training Day followed a rookie detective taken under the wing of a rouge cop in modern day Los Angeles. Starring Ethan Hawke, Eva Mendes, Dr. Dre and Denzel Washington, it earned over 75 million at the box office. The film also earned Denzel Washington an Oscar for Best Actor for his role of the rouge cop.
