CBS has ordered a drama pilot for Greg Berlanti’s God Friended Me. The show will revolve around an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he’s friended by God on Facebook.
The show will also feature how the Holy Spirit makes the atheist an agent of change in the lives of those around him. Hailed from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV, God Friended Me is penned by Lilien Wynbrandt and directed by Marcos Siega. Sarah Schechter, who is the head of Berlanti Productions, will executive produce alongside Berlanti.
Berlanti is known for his many projects across several networks including the CW’s Arrow, Supergirl, new series Black Lightning, and The Flash, ABC’s Deception, Lifetime’s You, and Blindspot on NBC.
CBS recently ordered three pilots that include two comedies and one drama, which all hail from female creators. CBS has ordered Gloria Calderon Kellett’s History of Them, which is a multi-camera hybrid comedy; Amanda Green’s drama Murder, which consists of criminal investigations; and Michelle Nader’s I Mom so Hard, which is a multi-camera comedy based on the web series #IMOMSOHARD and follows two moms who show how their friendship gets them through being wives and mothers.
