America In Black, a joint primetime newsmagazine series from CBS News and BET, has been renewed for a second season. According to Deadline, the series features human interest stories, celebrity profiles, newsmaker interviews and investigative reporting. America In Black is available on Paramount+, CBS News and BET.
During its first season, the series showcased Black maternal mortality with an interview with none other than Vice President Kamala Harris, explored the epidemic of amputation among Black Americans, and covered the war on Black history. The show also followed a series of interviews and featured profiles on stars such as, LL Cool J (Deep Blue Sea, Mindhunters), Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Fruitvale Station), T.D. Jakes (Jumping the Broom, Not Easily Broken) and Taraji P. Henson (Empire, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).
In the second season, a veteran BET News anchor, Ed Gordon (Woman in Motion, Impact the Vote), will be welcomed back to his home station after an almost two-decade break to be a special correspondent. Additionally, Vladimir Duthiers (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), a host from CBS Mornings, and special correspondent Soledad O’Brien (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Queen & Slim), are set to be on board for season two.
As per Deadline, America In Black season two is set to debut during Black History Month with two episodes: one on Tuesday, February 6, and another on Tuesday, February 20. Both will debut on BET at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
Season one of the series featured CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King (The Boss, Queen & Slim), CBS News special correspondent and NFL Today host James Brown (The NFL Today, Fox NFL Sunday), author and journalist Marc Lamont Hill (The Creed, On The Record New Orleans), CBS Weekend News anchor and CBS News national correspondent Jericka Duncan (4:04, 48 Hours), CBS News correspondents Danya Bacchus (CBS Weekend News, World News Now) and Skyler Henry (Cold Case Files, CBS Weekend News), CBS Saturday Morning co-host Michelle Miller (48 Hours, CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley), Entertainment Tonight co-host Nischelle Turner (Torchwood, American Horror Story), MTV correspondent Dometi Pongo (MTV News: Need to Know, True Life) and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Wesley Lowery (In the Cold Dark Night, They Can’t Kill Us).
Deadline also notes that the season debut episode on February 6 will showcase O’Brien’s profile and interview with Ava DuVernay (Queen Sugar, Selma), the filmmaker of the drama movie Origin, a segment on Black love and a profile of the first Black woman to be the NFL team president, Sandra Douglass Morgan. The episode debuting on February 20 will showcase King sitting down for an interview with Victoria Monét (Insecure, Charlie’s Angels), a profile on Maryland’s Governor Wes Moore and a piece on food critic Keith Lee. A commentary segment from season one entitled Mic Drop with comedian Roy Wood Jr (The Daily Show, Sullivan & Son) is also set to make a comeback.

Jason Samuels (Dateline NBC, Heart of the City) and Alvin Patrick (48 Hours on ID, 60 Minutes Sports) co-executive produce America In Black.
