CBS’ military drama The Code was canceled after the first season, according to Variety. The series followed Marines, who tackle the most difficult legal challenges. These Marines are the investigators, defense lawyers, and prosecutors, who serve their country from the Judge Advocate General Quarters in Marine Corps Base Quantico.
The series cast included Dana Delany (China Beach, Desperate Housewives), Anna Wood (Falling Water), Luke Mitchell (Blindspot), Ato Essandoh (Chicago Med), Raffi Barsoumian (The Vampire’s Diaries), and Phillipa Soo (Broadway’s Hamilton). Craig Sweeney and Craig Turk served as creators. Craig Turk also served as executive producers together with Carl Beverly, Marc Webb, Christine Moore, and Sarah Timberman. The series was produced CBS Television Studios.
The JAG team includes Captain John “Abe” Abraham (Mitchell), a prosecutor who comes from a military family and is passionate about his work; Captain Maya Dobbins (Wood), a lead defense attorney who is devoted to the truth and dedicated to both the Marine Corps and her clients; and Major Trey Ferry (Essandoh), who is a relentless prosecutor, as well as Commanding Officer Colonel Glenn Turnbull (Delaney), who is loyal and has high expectations from her staff. The team also includes Lt. Harper Li (Soo), a lawyer who is in search of a challenge, and Warrant Officer Rami Ahmadi (Barsoumian), who assists the lawyers with their work.
The show premiered in April and gained a good audience since it aired right after CBS’ NCIS. However, after the first week, the series moved to Tuesday and the ratings plunged dramatically. The season finale scored a low rating of 0.3 in the 18-49 age group and 2.9 million total viewers.

“While I’m disappointed that I don’t get to continue this particular adventure with these stellar humans, I feel very grateful for, and proud of, the show we made,” actor Luke Mitchell said. “Thank you so much to everyone who watched!!,” Mitchell added.
