CBS Makes Carpool Karaoke Format Open to International Broadcasters

It looks like Carpool Karaoke is going international!

Today CBS announced they would be making the format of Carpool Karaoke available to international broadcasters. TVGuide.com reports Paul Gilbert, CBS’s SVP of International Formats said in a statement, “Ever since Carpool Karaoke has aired as part of The Late Late Show with James Corden, the requests for the format have been overwhelming. International broadcasters can now leverage Carpool Karaoke’s huge digital and broadcast success for their own local viewers.”

Now international broadcasters can create their own Carpool Karaoke shows or segments based on James Corden’s very successful segment on The Late Late Show. It sounds like several broadcasters are interested in a Carpool Karaoke series which would feature 30 or 60-minute episodes of artists riding in cars outfitted with cameras and singing along to the radio.

This isn’t the first time their has been talk of a Carpool Karaoke spinoff. Much like Lip Sync Battle on Spike TV being a spinoff of the Lip Sync Battle segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, there was talk earlier this year of Spike also picking up Caraoke Showdown. The series would feature artists riding along in a car with host Craig Robinson (The Office) and singing along to some of their most popular work.

It’s no wonder other broadcasters are looking to get in on some Carpool Karaoke. Corden’s late night show has been on the air for a little over a year and already the Carpool Karaoke segment has produced some viral videos. Corden’s Carpool Karaoke has featured artists such as Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, and Iggy Azalea, but his video with Adele still holds the record for one of the most watched late-night segments on Youtube with 105 million views. The Late Late Show‘s YouTube channel currently has over 5 million subscribers.

The most recent Carpol Karaoke segment aired last week on The Late Late Show and featured Demi Lovato and Nich Jonas. Check it out below.

You can catch more Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show with James Corden and hopefully soon on Spike’s Caraoke Showdown.
