CBS is Developing Another ‘CSI’ Spinoff

The network has ordered a pilot for the spinoff focused on a special agent in charge of the cyber crime division in the FBI.

CBS is working on another spinoff for the CSI franchise which already includes CSI: Miami and CSI: NY. The spinoff will focus on a world where technology has amplified human behavior and now there are crimes committed at global proportions with a touch of a button by faceless criminals, as reported by The Wrap.

The untitled project written by Carol Mendelsohn, Anthony E. Zuiker and Ann Donahue will be produced by Bruckheimer TV an CBS Studios. Inspired by the work of Irish cyber psychologist Mary Aiken, the spinoff will center on Avery Ryan, a Special Agent in charge or the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI in Quantico, Va., whose tasks are to solve the major crimes that strt online.

The executive producers of the series are Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman while Aiken is on board as a producer.

The cyber crime-themed pilot could be the first to revive the franchise since last year’s NY’s cancellation. The pilot episode for the spinoff will air this spring
