According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has just ordered nine more episodes of the comedy series Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The series is a spinoff of the series Young Sheldon and follows the lives of Sheldon’s brother, Georgie, and his wife, Mandy, as they face the journey of adulthood. The nine new episodes will bring the sitcom to 22 episodes for the season.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is the third series in The Big Bang Theory franchise, showcasing the lives of Sheldon Cooper and his friends and family. The series is a spinoff of Young Sheldon, branching out into the life of his older brother. The series follows Georgie and Mandy as they struggle to balance life, work and family while learning more about one another and their pasts
The cast of the series includes Montana Jordan (The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter) as Georgie, Emily Osment (Hannah Montana: The Movie) as Mandy, Rachel Bay Jones (Modern Family) as Audrey, Will Sasso (The Three Stooges) as Jim, Dougie Baldwin (Disjointed) as Connor, Jessie Prez (Abbott Elementary) as Ruben, Annie Potts (Pretty in Pink) as Meemaw, Zoe Perry (The Family) as Mary, Raegan Revord (Wish Upon) as Missy and many others.
“With the resounding success of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, we were instantly on board when Chuck, Steven and Steve brought us the idea to further explore this world through Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said in a statement. “The enthusiastic audience reception has demonstrated the enormous appeal of these characters, and we can’t wait to see all of the hilarious fun this season will undoubtedly deliver.”
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the series has had an amazing success at CBS, averaging 6.5 million same-day viewers for the first couple of episodes. According to Nielsen, the series is only currently second to CBS’ new series Matlock.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is available to stream on CBS TV.
