CBS Fall Schedule: NFL ‘Thursday Night Football’ Kicks it Off

There is a planned multiphase roll out for CBS’ new season with fall premiere dates.

The fall will kick off with NFL Thursday Night Football on September 11 followed by the launch of the top-rated Thursday entertainment lineup on October 30. The first Thursday Night Football will pit the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Baltimore Ravens.

“The addition of Thursday Night Football provides the flexibility to strategically roll out our fall season in multiple waves, maximizing promotional platforms and scheduling opportunities to give our new and returning series the best possible launch,” Nina Tassler, Chairman CBS Entertainment said.

Beginning on Sunday September 21 there will be the premiere of new drama Madam Secretary and the returns of 60 Minutes and The Good Wife. There will also be some back-to-back episodes of The Big Bang Theory on Monday, September 22, which leads into the new high-octane drama Scorpion and the season finale of summer series Under the Dome. A new spinoff series, NCIS: New Orleans, premieres on September 23. Extant will air its season finale the next day. CBS also premieres Stalker on October 1 and The McCarthy’s on October 30.
