Last week during this year’s virtual New York Comic Con, fans of the psychological thriller series Evil received a treat from creators Robert and Michelle King (The Good Wife, BrainDead). According to Deadline, the duo wrote and shot a Zoom trailer for the show’s second season. Originally set for CBS’ fall schedule, production for the show was pushed back because of COVID. CBS aired the first season of CBS All Access series Star Trek: Discovery in its place.
Via Deadline, the trailer captures various locales and scenes to coincide with the trailer’s narration. Evil‘s main cast lent their voices and sound effects to give viewers a taste of what they can expect. The trailer is narrated by Kurt Fuller (Psych, Wayne’s World) and features appearances from Katja Herbers (Love Over Distance, Divorce), Mike Colter (Luke Cage, Monsterland), Aasif Mandvi (Today’s Special, The Proposal), Michael Emerson (Person of Interest, Lost), and Christine Lahti (Chicago Hope, Hawaii Five-O). You can view the trailer below.
The only genre series on CBS, the show follows two specialists investigating unexplained instances that they must determine as anomalies of mental disturbance or something more sinister. Herbers is Kristen Bouchard, an agnostic forensic psychologist who solves issues based in science, ruling out elements of the supernatural being at play. She finds herself accompanying Colter’s David Acosta, a devout Catholic priest-in-training who is questioning his own beliefs. The team is a trio with Mandvi’s Ben Shakir, a contractor who specializes in debunking the mysterious with technology.
The three meet their match in adversary Leland Townsend, a new psychiatrist played by Emerson. Townsend seeks to not only discredit Bouchard and Acosta’s work but to disturb their lives in general. The rest of the main cast is rounded out with Fuller’s Dr. Kurt Boggs, Bouchard’s own psychiatrist. And Lahti plays Bouchard’s mother, Sheryl Luria.
With hopes of boosting second season viewing, CBS recently struck a streaming deal with Netflix to air the first season for an entire year as of October 1.
