CBS Crime Drama ‘Blue Bloods’ Releases Exclusive Clip Ahead of its Premiere on Friday, January 8

The CBS crime drama Blue Bloods has released an exclusive clip from its upcoming episode from season eleven premiering Friday night at 10 pm E.T, via TV line. Following NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan portrayed by Tom Sellek (Friends), the clip features Ali Stroker (Glee) guest starring as a detective who ends up in a wheelchair after being hurt in the line of duty.

Stroker is best known for her portrayal as Ado Annie in the Broadway musical Oklahoma!, for which the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical in 2019. It was a moment in history as she became the first person who uses a wheelchair for mobility to be nominated and win a Tony Award. Outspoken in regards to the lack of representation of people with disabilities throughout theatre, film, and television, Stroker has continued to highlight the need for more visibility.

In the Blue Bloods new episode entitled “Redemption,” she portrays Allison Mulaney, a detective who ends up in a wheelchair after getting wounded in the line of duty. Though now in a wheelchair, Mulaney wants to remain on the force and be an active detective despite Reagan’s misgivings.

The sneak peak from the episode offers a conversation between Mulaney and Reagan that is charged with tension. After Mulaney gives a press conference announcing her wishes to continue to actively serve on the force, it puts Reagan in a difficult spot. The clip ends with him telling Mulaney, “No detective has ever worked an active crime scene from a wheelchair.”

Blue Bloods will air on CBS, Friday, January 8 at 10 p.m. E.T. Season eleven is projected to contain sixteen episodes total, but it’s already running into some delays. After airing its new episode “Redemption,” it will be two more weeks until it airs episode 5 entitled “Spilling Secrets” on Friday, January 22.

Along with Blue Bloods, the rest of the Friday night lineup at CBS is also returning. The schedule includes a new episode of MacGyver which will air at 8 pm E.T , and a new episode of Magnum P. I at 9 pm E.T.
