Joining the cast of Netflix’s upcoming series based on Tim Burton’s (A Nightmare Before Christmas) The Addams Family, entitled Wednesday, is Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Mask of Zorro), according to The Hollywood Reporter. Luis Guzman (Shameless) was previously cast as Gomez, while Jenna Ortega (You) was previously cast as Wednesday.
The eight-episode series will feature Zeta-Jones as the Addams Family matriarch, Morticia. The series adaptation will follow Wednesday Addams’ adolescent years at Nevermore Academy as she attempts to better her newfound psychic abilities while halting a monstrous killing spree that is terrorizing her local town, all while deciphering a mystery that entangled her parents over two decades prior.
Burton will executive produce the series alongside Al Gough (Smallville), Miles Millar (Into the Badlands), Andrew Mittman (The Addams Family), Kevin Miserocchi (The Addams Family), Kayla Alpert (Up All Night), Jonathan Glickman (Addams Family 2), and Gail Berman (The Addams Family).
