Apple TV+’s upcoming adaptation of Renee Knight’s (The Secretary: A Novel) novel, Disclaimer, which will hold the same title, will star Cate Blanchett (Carol) and Kevin Kline (The Starling), according to Deadline. Remaining cast members are currently unknown.
The story follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a respected television documentary journalist, played by Blanchett, who finds a novel on her bedside table written by a widower, played by Kline. The novel tells the tale of Catherine’s darkest secret that she thought was hers alone. Disclaimer is being adapted by Alfonso Cuarón (Roma), who signed a deal with the streamer in 2019. He will write, direct, and executive produce all episodes of the series, alongside Blanchett. Knight will also serve as co-executive producer of her series adaptation.
Blanchett is most well-known for her role in the Lord of the Rings franchise as the elf leader Galadriel in all three films. She has also been featured in Steven Spielberg’s (West Side Story) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and in David Fincher’s (Fight Club) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Her soon-to-be co-star, Kline, made his debut with the wildly notable Sophie’s Choice in 1982. He went on to be featured in titles like Wild Wild West, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Bob’s Burgers.
