New faces have joined the cast of Hulu’s How I Met Your Mother spinoff series. Deadline reports Josh Peck (Drake & Josh, Turner & Hooch) and Ashley Reyes (American Gods, Slayers) are the latest cast members to join How I Met Your Father in recurring roles. The series also sees casting change with the addition of Daniel Augustin (David Makes Man, Wu-Tang: An American Saga).
Similar to the original CBS sitcom, How I Met Your Father is set in the future and centers on Hilary Duff’s (Younger, A Cinderella Story) Sophie telling her son about how she met his father. Each episode will then trek back to 2021 as Sophie and her group of friends parlays life, love, and the pursuit of happiness in the social media and dating apps era. In addition to Duff, the series stars Chris Lowell (The Help, Veronica Mars) as Jesse, Francia Raisa (grown-ish, The Secret Life of the American Teenager) as Valentina, Tom Ainsley (Safe Inside, Jarhead 3: The Siege) as Charlie, Tien Tran (Candyman, Work in Progress) as Ellen, and Suraj Sharma (Happy Death Day 2 U, Million Dollar Arm) as Sid.
According to Deadline, Peck is set to play Drew, the vice-principal of Jesse’s elementary school. Reyes will be Hannah, Sid’s long-distance girlfriend. And in recasting, Augustin will portray Ian, Sophie’s long-lasting Tinder match. Augustin replaces Brandon Michael Hall (God Friended Me, Search Party) who departed the series due to scheduling conflicts. Production was recently shifted when Duff announced she had tested positive for COVID-19.
Deadline reports original series creators, Carter Bays (The Goodwin Games, Late Night with David Letterman) and Craig Thomas (Making Friends, My Time Your Time) serve as executive producers along with original series’ director, Pam Fryman (One Day at a TIme, Call Your Mother). Issac Aptaker (Love, Simon, This Is Us) and Elizabeth Berger (Love, Victor, Grandfathered) pen the series and serve as executive producers. They are joined by Adam Londy (I Want You Back, Tracers) as co-executive producer and Duff as a producer. The series is produced under 20th Television.
