According to Deadline, the cast of CBS’ comedy series Ghosts has received large salary raises and an optional additional year in their contracts. This comes shortly before Ghosts‘ third season, which consists of 10 episodes and will premiere on February 15, 2024 on CBS.
Deadline reports that television actors are “not contractually entitled to a raise and are obligated to continue to work under the original terms.” However, studios typically give cast members a raise after the second season of well-performing shows in exchange for another year of their deal.
Ghosts stars Utkarsh Ambudkar (Free Guy, World’s Best) as Jay and Rose McIver (iZombie, A Christmas Prince) as Samantha. Along with Ambudkar and McIver, the cast features Asher Grodman (The Train, Inez & Doug & Kira) as Trevor, Devan Chandler Long (Marvel’s Runaways, Bad Judge) as Thorfinn, Sheila Carrasco (A Lot of Nothing, The Donor Party) as Flower, Richie Moriarty (Hamster & Gretel, What We Do in the Shadows) as Pete, Rebecca Wisocky (The Mentalist, Devious Maids) as Hetty, Brandon Scott Jones (Renfield, The Other Two) as Isaac, Román Zaragoza (Spirit Rangers, Stumptown) as Sasappis, and Danielle Pinnock (Young Sheldon, Candy Cane Lane) as Alberta.
Ambudkar and McIver both had their salaries increase to $250,000 an episode, which is double their previous pay, according to Deadline. The other actors increased their pay to $100,000 an episode from about $35,000 to $55,000 an episode. Deadline reports that CBS Studios, Lionsgate Television, BBC Studios, and CBS representatives did not comment.
Last week McIver and Ambudkar were the only ones to receive a pay increase, resulting in the other actors not coming to last Thursday’s rehearsal, according to Deadline. The actor’s contracts were shortly renegotiated and the cast was fully present for production on Monday.
NBC also rewarded the stars of their drama series This Is Us before the third season with large salary increases of $250,000, over twice as much as the previous paychecks.
CBS’ Ghosts first debuted on the network on October 7, 2021.
