Rachel Sennott (Shiva Baby, I Used To Be Funny), involved in recent comedy hit Bottoms and comedy horror Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, had an untitled comedy pilot in the works at HBO. With details limited as the pilot moves through its early stages of production, it was announced that actors Jordan Firstman (Big Mouth, Ms. Marvel), True Whitaker (Berry’s Batteries, Godfather of Harlem), Odessa A’zion (Hellraiser, Fam) and Miles Robbins (Blockers, Halloween) have been brought onto the project by Deadline.
Deadline continues to say that the pilot will follow “a codependent friend group” that reconnects and learns how to deal with time apart, new relationships and how their independent life ambitions have changed them and the friend group dynamics.”
According to mxdwn, the pilot was ordered by HBO in March of this year, with Sennott also executive producing alongside writing the series. “Sennott, who graduated from Tisch School of the Arts in 2017, started her career in Hollywood with a bang when she starred in a student-produced film entitled Shiva Baby. The film was then adapted into a feature picture, with Sennott executive producing and reprising her role. This led Sennott to obtain leading roles in Bottoms, a teen comedy, and Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, a horror comedy movie, which she also executive produced and co-wrote.”
“A previous article revealed that HBO had an interest in Sennott’s work and recognized her potential since her career launched. Sennott is no stranger to working with HBO, considering her first television appearance happened during an episode of High Maintenance and as a recurring character, Leia, in The Idol.
Emma Barrie (Splitting Up Together, Barry), Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers, The Meddlers) and Aida Rodgers (Barry, True Detective) will also join Sennott as executive producers on this upcoming untitled project. Scafaria is also said to be directing the pilot via Deadline.
As production moves further along, more details for the pilot will be released.
