According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO may be in the market to continue the mystery series Poker Face after Peacock canceled it after two seasons. In the 2026 HBO Max programming slate presentation hosted by Casey Bloys at New York’s Hudson Yards, the HBO and HBO Max chairman and CEO said that the network heard the original pitch for Poker Face.

“We heard the original take,” he told The Hollywood Reporter during the Thursday presser, “and when I heard that Peacock wasn’t moving forward, we were curious. So we’ve had conversations, but I don’t know which way it’ll go. But I think Rian is a fantastic filmmaker, and I love the idea of Peter Dinklage, but I have nothing to report on that.”

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Peacock canceled the series starring Natasha Lyonne (Orange Is the New Black, American Pie) after its second season due to low viewership compared to the first. The series produced by Rian Johnson (Looper, Knives Out) and Ram Bergman’s (Brick, The Brothers Bloom) T-Street and independent studio MRC Television. Johnson and MRC said they planned to shop the series to other networks with Lyonne no longer in the lead role of Charlie Cale, but still remaining on as an executive producer.

“We’ve been germinating this next move together since writing the season two finale,” Johnson and Lyonne said in a statement at the time via The Hollywood Reporter. “We love our Poker Face and this is the perfect way to keep it rolling. Give us a beat and we may just see Charlie Cale again down that open highway.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Poker Face follows a casino worker, Charlie, who has the extraordinary ability to detect when an individual is lying. She finds herself running across the United States from her casino boss, following the death of her friend and co-worker, using her human lying detection skills to solve crimes along the way..

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Lyonne is joined on the series by cast members that include Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjacket, Ever After), Jason Ritter (Matlock, Gravity Falls), Jason Theroux (The Leftovers, Your Highness), John Cho (Star Trek, Searching), Simon Rex (Red Rocket, Blink Twice), Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development, Search Party), Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, The Farewell), Gaby Hoffman (Now and Then, Volcano), Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals, Stuber) and many others..

Poker Face is still available to stream on Peacock.
