The official trailer for the upcoming second season of Prime Video’s Gen V breaks down the wall between Vought’s elite university and the flagship superhero, The Boys, and confirms a major crossover. According to Comicbook, the trailer opens up with Marie, played by Jazz Sinclair (Slender Man, Paper Town), lying low in a motel, but then being attacked by an unknown man, and gets saved by Annie, played by Erin Moriarty (Jessica Jones, Blood Father).
Sinclair in an interview with Comicbook speaks about the situation that her character is in,”Marie doesn’t know Starlight beyond what she’s seen in the media, and Marie’s kind of in a bad situation. I mean, we see in the trailer she’s getting her ass beat, and then Starlight shows up and then offers her this mission with all these things she hasn’t heard about, and she doesn’t really know this girl. So, I think there’s a healthy amount of excitement and flattery, but also skepticism, like, ‘Why should I trust you to send me on this mission?’”
According to Comicbook, the mission that she and the other will embark on is to return back to Godolkin University, infiltrating Vought and uncovering the clandestine program known as Project Odessa that they are working on. Their mission of course will have obstacles they will have to overcome, with one being the new dean, Cipher, played by Hamish Linklater (Batman: Caped Crusader, Midnight Mass), whose in charge of the operation.
This season elevates the series from being just a spin-off to a crucial part of a larger, interconnected narrative. It aims to bridge the gap and provide essential context for the final battle against Homelander, played by Anthony Starr (Banshee: Origins, Cobweb). While waiting for the second season, which will premiere on September 7 with the release of three episodes, the entire first season of Gen V and all four seasons of The Boys are available for streaming on Prime Video.
