Netflix series, YOU, has received a substantial tax credit for a potential season 3, Deadline has learned, and although it doesn’t make YOU’s season 3 a guarantee, this development should offer fans comfort as it makes a third season a very likely possibility.
Earlier today Deadline announced the latest round of tax credit winners were revealed, and YOU’s season 3 was one of the fortunate recipients of this monetary reward, given a hefty 7.213 million dollars. The tax credit increases the profitability of the series, which in turn makes it more valuable to Warner Horizon and Berlanti Productions, the studios responsible for the hit Netflix series.
The announcement also comes with YOU dropping its official season two trailer on Netflix that allows fans more of a peek into Joe Goldberg’s new adventures in California on his quest for a new soulmate, a trailer that’s almost given as a gift to commemorate acquiring a tax credit for its third season.
Other lucky shows to receive this tax credit are the upcoming Bill Clinton’s Impeachment: American Crime Story, Star Trek: Picard and Lucifer. So although season 2 hasn’t even aired yet and there is no official announcement, fans can rest assured that a third season following the psychopathic hopeless romantic is a strong possibility, and his journey won’t end at season two.
Season 2 of YOU will focus on Joe’s relationship with Love Quinn, who Deadline has reported isn’t into social media as much as Joe’s ex girlfriend was, already creating an interesting and different relationship dynamic for Joe since he doesn’t exist on social media either.
Along with Berlanti Productions and Warner Horizons, the series is produced by Alloy Entertainment and executive produced by Sera Gamble, Greg Berlanti, Leslie Morgenstein and Marcos Siega. The third season of YOU will premiere in time for the holiday season on December, 26th, 2019.
