Disney+’s X-Men ’97 animated series proved to be popular among Marvel fans, and each mutant in the series has their own changes and struggles throughout the series’ revival. However, Logan, or Wolverine, is in pretty bad shape due to the events of the first season finale. Comicbook.com had the chance to speak with voice actor Cal Dodd (X-Men: The Animated Series, Spider-Man: The Animated Series), who originally voiced Wolverine, about the future of his character in the forthcoming second season.
In the original 1993 comic book, X-Men: Fatal Attractions, Magneto ripped Logan’s adamantium from his skeleton, which made the next couple years of fighting incredibly hard on him due to his skeleton no longer being indestructible. In the animated series, Logan was hanging on by a thread during the X-Men’s fight against Magneto in the season finale. Comicbook.com writes that the second season has a plethora of storylines that could be covered and are already hinted at, such as the return of Apocalypse, Gambit’s resurrection, Nathan’s upbringing in a dystopian future, and more. Thus, Logan’s future is one to keep an eye on, too, as the stakes are higher.
When discussing the future of Logan in his talk with Comicbook.com at this year’s Dragon Con, Dodd admitted that the loss of Logan’s adamantium would not be too much of an issue for the character. “In my case, Logan is who he is,” Dodd said. “When he went through this, he bounces back and goes, ‘That all you got?’”
Lenore Zann (X-Men: The Animated Series, Avengers: United They Stand), who voices Rogue, also said to Comicbook.com, “Much like the original animated series to X-Men ’97, we’re picking up right where we left off for Season Two. A few weeks or months later, we are still the same characters, and Season Two will be the same characters. As in any kind of situation with humans, if you have dramatic things happen, that affects your emotions, but people will have to wait and watch in Season Two, Sugah.”
